Middle of Nowhere

Dress: Missguided, Blazer: H&M, Necklace/Belt: ASOS

Nothing special from me today, but I wanted to get back into a regular blogging schedule! Apologies for the crazy hair and chipped nails... I'm still wrestling with the decisions as to whether I should re-dye my hair or let my natural colour grow out. The other day I had a wild desire to dye the tips of my hair pink/purple after watching a random YouTube video. Luckily I had the sense to resist, as if it had gone wrong it would be forever remembered in my brother's wedding photos (the wedding is in a fortnight)! So I think I will be waiting a little while before I try and fix/re-vamp my hair. I feel like doing something crazy to it while I'm still a student as when I eventually graduate and get a 'real job' I probably won't be able to have crazy hair! Also my fringe is way too long, I need to give it a trim tonight so I can finally stop clipping it back!

What do you think? Is crazy hair acceptable in the workplace?

Reckless

Skirt & Necklace: Topshop, Shirt: Primark, Vest (underneath): New Look

Hellooo everyone! It's been a while since I've done an outfit post, but I've been super busy and was hit by some horrible disease on Tuesday, so I've basically either been ill or scribbling away in the library for the last week. Whoever said university is just fun and games was lying. Anyway, I picked up this shirt randomly the other day in Primark and it's now been added to my ever growing collection of sheer shirts and polka dot items. Two things I can't resist! (I bought polka dot shoes too...) I also love to button collars all the way up to the top. It's a bit prudish, but I like it.

This is set to be a good week for me as my friend is coming to visit for a few days on Wednesday and we're going to Torquay to see some penguins (I'm 2 not 22...) and then a different friend is coming at the weekend. Both these girls were my housemates in second year and graduated last summer and I really miss having them here. It will be great to see them, I'm so excited!

Have you got any fun plans this week?
P.S. Thanks to Helen for giving me a blog award!

FashionistA Custom Palette

(L-R: FashionistA Double Take Baked Eyeshadow in Bewitched, Blush x2, Baked Eyeshadow in Globe)

Sorry it's been a while, but the last week has been a combination of being very busy/ill, so here's something a little different from me today as I don't usually blog about beauty related things...

I was wandering around the cosmetics stands at Superdrug the other day and the sign for Fashionista's custom palette caught my eye. I didn't know too much about the brand, and had only vague memories of seeing it on blogs but I fancied giving it a try. The idea is that you basically create your own customised palette of eyeshadows and/or blushes. Apparently overall the range has a choice of 49 eyeshadows and 12 different blush shades, so there's something for everyone. I really like the idea of creating my own palette as it means  you get exactly what you want. I've often been given palettes as presents in the past, and not liked every colour, so sadly never used some of them. The great thing is, the eyeshadows/blushes come in their own little cases so you can store them separately and easily change up the palette if you buy more than 4.

I think the range is a reasonable price, each blush/eyeshadow is £4 and the palette is £5, but if you buy the palette and 4 blushes/eyeshadows to go in it at Superdrug, there's an offer on so it's only £12 altogether. I picked these 'baked' eyeshadows because I thought the mix of colours was really pretty, and who can resist a bit or sparkle? The blushes are fairly standard colours, but different to any I already had. The product applied quite well and lasted most of the day. The pigmentation of the blushes is good, but the eyeshadows weren't as vibrant as I expected.

What do you think of the palette? Would you try it out? You can see more of the Fashionista range here.

(Sorry the blush names aren't written on here, but I'm not at home, so I don't have them to hand, but will add them later!)

Rosé

Jumper & Boots: Topshop,
Top & Skirt: H&M,
Tights, Watch & Jewellery: ASOS
Nails: Model's Own - Disco Mix

Guess what? I'm wearing pink again!! I love this jumper so much. It's not quite as bright in real life and the material is lovely and soft, and knitted really nicely. I look forward to pairing it with flowery dresses in the spring!

Pink used to be my favourite colour when I was about 13, and I think I wore it so much then that I couldn't bear to wear it for ages up until recently. I remember one of my favourite outfits consisted of a pink and white striped top, a pink pleated corduroy skirt, a pink trench coat, some hideous slouchy black boots and a pink bowling bag. Of course I always had matching hair accessories, jewellery and pink eyeshadow too. MEGA CRINGE.

Did you have any embarassing outfits in your younger years? I have so many more I could share. Maybe one day I'll put some photos up - they'll have you rolling in the aisles I swear!

Valentine's: Dates or Mates?

(L)Missguided Dress, Primark Heels, ASOS Necklace,
(R) Dress & Necklace as before, Topshop Loafers and Jumper

So whether you're spending Valentine's day with a 'significant other' or hanging out with friends, or even just yourself, it's still a great excuse to dress up a bit fancy! I loved this dress the minute I spotted it on Missguided. I just love the bright pink, which really stands out against the black, and the cute heart shaped cut out at the back (which I tried and failed to get a decent picture of). In the left picture I'm wearing the dress as I would on a date, with a statement necklace and some heels. Then on the right, I'm wearing it as I actually am today for my (dateless) normal day at uni - cosy in a fluffy jumper and studded loafers.

My Valentine's day is pretty uneventful, and just as normal as any other day in my opinion! I've been doing some uni work and then am hanging out with my housemates later. (All the single ladies, put your hands up!!) I'm not one of those bitter people who moan about Valentine's just because they don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend and I'm really not at all bothered by today. Just because you don't have a boyfriend it doesn't mean you're not loved by someone. I know I have an amazing family and some really wonderful friends, so today I am grateful for them!

Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you're doing or whoever you're spending it with! :)

Star-Spangled

Lace Dress & Leggings: Topshop
Cardigan: New Look (Kids)

So this is not the most exciting outfit in the world and my face looks pretty rough (sorry for scaring you!), but I wanted go show off this new cardi. I stumbled across it by accident in New Look, and even though it is in fact from the Kid's section, I really like it! Its fun, funky, bright and a little bit different. It certainly cheered me up on this cold, dreary day and made for perfect, comfy library attire.

Life is pretty boring for me at the moment, I seem to spend a lot of time in the library despairing over my dissertation. I had a mini breakdown yesterday and had a good cry to my Mum on the phone! I managed to get myself sorted out today and am keeping myself positive. I never quite anticipated how stressed out I'd get this year! Some may think it's silly to get so stressed out, but doing well in my degree is very important to me. I may have lots of horrible work to do now but I've got lots of things to look forward to and it will all be worth it when I walk across that stage to collect my degree certificate in July!

Sorry this is a bit of a moody post, next time I will be more upbeat - I promise!

Birthday Suit

(1) Topshop Dress, H&M Cardigan, ASOS Belt; (2) LOVE Dress, ASOS Belt and Necklace

Hello there lovely people!! Thought I'd just drop by and write a little post about my birthday and show you what I wore (see above). I spent my birthday day being quite lazy. I hung out at home, opened some presents, ate lots of food and generally relaxed - I definitely did not touch any of my uni work! Then in the evening things got a little more wild. I went to Prezzo with my friends for a yummy dinner and then on to several cocktail bars in town, we're  lucky that there's actually a lot of choice where I live considering it's not a very big place. Then we made a spontaneous trip to one of the clubs in town as they'd sent me a birthday email with queue jump, free entry and a bottle of free bubbly. MEGA WIN!! So all in all it was a very good day/night and a good way to celebrate another step into old age.

On another note, I'm having a bit of a hair crisis. As you can see in this pictures, my natural hair has grown out quite a lot and is very noticeably different to the dyed colour. I can't decide whether to re-dye it or grow my hair out so I eventually have my natural colour again. We've been separated for so long I don't even know how I feel about it anymore! What do you guys think? I'm also debating growing my fringe out as I've had my hair this way for longer than I care to remember!

Hope you're all having a good week!

P.S. Hi to the new followers who have popped up recently, thanks for following! :)
P.P.S. Special thanks to Katie and Sheri who have given me blog awards (more on that later!)

Birthday Wishlist

Just a quickie post here as things are pretty busy with me at the moment. It's my birthday on Saturday so these are a few things I've got my eye on. Some pretty and some useful, like the power pack (great for charging your phone/ipod on the go)!! I also quite fancy the Wagamama's cookbook. I love eating there and it would be cool to try and make a few of the things myself. Cath Kidston also features here (of course), I love everything they make and the London print is just adorable. I'm going to be 22 in less than 48 hours and it scares me. I really like being 21, it sounds like a cool age. Being 22 and still at uni makes me feel a bit over the hill haha. Hopefully I might receive a few nice pressies on Saturday and I really hope the forecast rain doesn't happen, so I can do something fun.

Anyway, back to work for me....have a good weekend and bye for now!!
